About

Birmingham Central Baptist Church

(formerly known as Springhill Baptist Church)

has been a part of the community here at Springhill

for over 150 years.

We are a multi-cultural, multi-generational Christian fellowship

who passionately love Jesus.

In our worship we seek to express our gratitude of our God

who has shown us such amazing grace.

Our God who has demonstrated his unending love for us.

Our God who has made a new life possible, a life filled with the abundance of his blessing for today and the promise of eternity beyond our life on earth.

In our meeting together we aim to encourage one another in faith

and support one another through life's circumstances.

In our activities and social action projects

we seek to express the hope and joy of our faith in Jesus.

COVID-19 'UPDATE'

Worshipping our way through a pandemic

(Updated 28/10/2021)

Inevitably the Coronavirus pandemic has, like everyone, affected us as a church. Happily though, things are returning to some sort of normality...

We haven't yet returned to our normal patterns of worship and weekly activities, we are beginning to find our way forward however. Sunday Morning Worship Services now take place at the church building, every week, with Live Stream and recorded versions made available by request.

Our services have begun to tale on a more 'normal' feel. We now enjoy communal singing, but strongly urge the congregation to wear a face mask while doing so. In fact we do ask folk to wear a mask during the whole service if they are able to. Social distancing has been relaxed to a large extent, but where people wish to remain socially distanced we have made it possible and ask all to respect this. Hospitality is now possible and tea and coffee etc are available following the service. We feel that keeping people safe is still a priority and request that everyone considers the safety of others above their own comfort or convenience.

In a constant reviewing process we are looking to see how we re-establish some of our other activities. Our 'Over 50s Gentle Exercise Group' has recommmenced along with other social activities on a Wednesday. We are also looking at ways to create new opportunties for Christian fellowship, teaching, prayer, and discipleship. Watch this space... but also keep an eye on our Facebook page for more information.

What We Do

What? - When? - Why?

BCBCS has long had a reputation for being a busy church. At times we have been described as 'punching beyond our weight' even. Over the years we have sought to serve the people of the church and our local community in many ways. Through Sunday Worship and Mid-week meetings we've aimed to build God's people in faith and spirituality. Through social activities and social action we have sought to connect with and serve our local community. It makes sense to review things from time to time in order to know we are offering our best and meeting the needs of those we seek to serve. As such, over the past couple of years we have been on something of a journey, stopping a few things, adjusting others, bringing in some new things which we believe will have a greater impact and value for the church and our neighbours. That journey of discovery and refocus continues...

Mid-week Activities

We're Rebuilding Our Programme.
Watch out for updates.

We're looking for new ways to enhance our gathering and more effective ways to serve our community. Watch this space...
