About

Birmingham Central Baptist Church

(formerly known as Springhill Baptist Church)

has been a part of the community here at Springhill for over 150 years.

We are a multi-cultural, multi-generational Christian fellowship

who passionately love Jesus.

In our worship we seek to express our gratitude of our God

who has shown us such amazing grace.

Our God who has demonstrated his unending love for us.

Our God who has made a new life possible, a life filled with the abundance of his blessing for today and the promise of eternity beyond our life on earth.

In our meeting together we aim to encourage one another in faith

and support one another through life's circumstances.

In our activities and social action projects

we seek to express the hope and joy of our faith in Jesus.

COVID-19

Worshipping our way through a pandemic

Inevitably the Coronavirus pandemic has, like everyone, affected us as a church.

Since mid-March our normal patterns of worship and weekly activities have been severely disrupted and for the most part our building has been closed. This does not mean of course that we stopped worshiping God, what could do that? Our Sunday services have moved online with the odd exception. Sadly our other activities have been more severely impacted and we do not currently run any mid-week activities.

As the situation changes and things become more manageable and safer we will begin once more to meet physically together. In the meantime we will be busy reviewing the things we love to do, seeking to expand our vision, improve our offering, and find new ways to serve our community.

We will keep this website updated as much as possible, but also keep an eye on our Facebook page for more information.

What We Do

What? - When? - Why?

BCBCS has a reputation for being a busy church. At times we have been described as 'punching beyond our weight'. Of course, these are flattering descriptions at some levels, but busy and overstretched are not necessarily good places for a church to be. Over the past couple of years we have been on something of a journey, stopping a few things, adjusting others, bringing in some things new.
That journey continues...

Sunday Worship

Due to Covid-19 restrictions we are not currently meeting for services on a regular basis.
Watch out for more information

When we are able to meet, in what we now call 'Gathered Church', our services aim to meet the worshiping needs of a diverse and dynamic congregation. Sung worship tends to be a mixed bag of ancient, not quite so ancient, and more modern songs - in any service you're likely to find a great old hymn along with an up to date anthem. We try to be a multi-voice congregation as much as possible and so it is common to find different voices leading elements of our worship and preaching.

STILL WATERS HOUSE

Supported Accommodation

Still Waters House is our ministry tackling homelessness in our city. BCBCS runs a four bed house for men who have experienced homelessness. We accommodate and deliver support to enable the men to overcome the issues which led to them to such a difficult place in their lives.

Mid-week Activities

We're Rebuilding Our Programme.
Watch out for updates.

We're looking for new ways to enhance our gathering and more effective ways to serve our community. Watch this space...
